Boysenberries, Marzipan, Zigarrenkiste, Hauch von Wacholder
Dunkle Kirschen, scharfer Paprika, Erde, danach seidenfeine, gleichwohl dichte Tannine.

96 Punkte vom Wine Business Magazin und Wine Front “What a wonderful estate. Pretty perfume here. Red berry-cherry fruits, slight medicinal lift, touch of eucalyptus. The palate is silky yet dense, hemmed with spicy-chalky tannins, drawn long, very fine, fresh-feeling and kind of cool despite all that potent fruit rolling in. Tannins, superb; lots of tension here in best way. Quiet power, then has a prettiness and almost light finish, so very appealing in the scheme of things. Fantastic. Natürlich verfügt dieser Wein über ein sehr langes Alterungsspotenzial 2038+! Block 6 ist ein Ausnahmewein der sich mit den weltbesten Shiraz messen kann.
* 94-96 Punkte Robert Parker 2017 Kay Brothers Shiraz Block 6 Tasted from a Cadus puncheon, the 2017 Shiraz Block 6 looks like another great vintage of this wine. Blueberry liqueur, fresh florals and vanilla appear on the nose, while the full-bodied wine is creamy and rich yet structured, with a crisp, tight finish. 97 Points Angus Hughson; The heart of Kay Brothers is their 22 hectare Amery vineyard and its hallowed 3.5 acre Block 6 Shiraz, planted in 1892 from cuttings off the nearby original Hardy’s vineyard. For decades the fruit from Block 6 was blended in with the other Kay Brothers Shiraz but in 34 recent vintages it has been bottled separately to create what is the essence of great McLaren Vale Shiraz. It is a wine with incredible depth, power and structure making it one of South Australia’s most ageworthy reds. And in the 2017 vintage it celebrates the 125th year since Block 6 was planted.
This is an Australian legend that does not disappoint with an almost impenetrable colour and the highest level of power and complexity, and all with perfect balance in an old-fashioned style. Tar, licorice, boysenberry, pepper and crushed rock fruit are topped with a healthy dose of new oak. It’s then dry, robust and tannic, almost with a meaty texture, with fruit that has both immense impact and subtlety. Unforgettable. Drink 2025 - 2050 (Angus Hughson)
